Judith's Dolphin Diary, with Dave's pics
    3 September 2020:
Dave arrives at the DVP (dolphin viewing platform) at 16.30 and just a few moments later he spots four humpback dolphins right in front of the pier. They are hunting in a shoal of fish and slowly moving towards the Alkant side. Chasing and jumping they entertain those who are watching for a little while before eventually they disappear.

    6 September:
It is a bit misty this morning around 7.45 am but the two humpback dolphins are clearly visible in the water. They are swimming from the Newark side towards the north pier surfacing frequently and evenly. Suddenly a humpback whale shows up in the background but it is also pretty close, so being distracted I lose sight of the humpies not far from the pier. The whale is going north too and we are following it with the camera as it passes the pier with graceful movements of its massive body...

    7 September:
Once again, an unplanned short visit at the short pier around noon is paying off for Dave: he has just arrived when immediately he spots a single humpback dolphin that is swimming into the harbour. Dave quickly takes a photo before the dolphin is out of sight. That was another stroke of luck for you, Dave - well done!
